Tom amazed to be alive after wild partying

Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan is lucky to be alive. The singer is amazed he has managed to survive all the hard partying he’s done over the years without going to rehab. He said, "Since Kasabian came out, most of it has just been a blackout for me. Thank God I’m still here. I haven’t gone to rehab, which is the genius thing. When we were on tour with Oasis, when we did America, we had some great nights with Liam and Noel Gallagher. That was an amazing time and it included meeting Lars from Metallica."

Meighan also revealed he is obsessed with Pot Noodles, and always takes the British instant savoury snack with him on tour. He added to Loaded magazine, "We take Pot Noodles with us. Everyone loves chicken and mushroom, but beef and tomato is pretty cool. And I tell you what’s really underestimated, chowmein. Great flavour."

Beyonce, singer Jay-Z confirm their marriage

Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z have officially confirmed their marriage. The superstar couple, who tied the knot on April 4, but refused to acknowledge any nuptials, filed their signed marriage license last Friday in Scarsdale, New York. Beyonce and Jay-Z applied for the license, which lists the wedding date as April 4th 2008, on April 1, three days before the ceremony. Scarsdale Town Clerk Donna Conkling said, “They were very low-key and weren’t dressed up. They did not have a large entourage.” The couple took the license home that day, and then signed it and mailed it in after the ceremony. Although the document was filed late, Conkling says it should be processed without a penalty.

“When I first approached Aishwarya, I never thought of her as a good actress. Her beauty always came to the forefront, making it impossible for me to focus on her acting skills or other aspects. But she surprised me. There was one particular scene in Sarkar Raj with Amitabh Bachchan and she had to give retakes nine times because of some technical mistakes and every time she faced the camera, she behaved as though she was doing it for the first time. I have become a big fan of her’s ever since.” Keeping with Ramu’s tradition of working with a particular actress once he likes their work, we wonder what Ramu has in store for Ash next.

Elvis had gone to UK, hung out with Tommy

Elvis Presley once visited England and went to the Houses of Parliament. The late music legend enjoyed a day out in London and was shown around by British singer Tommy Steele, who was considered the British Elvis at the time, it has been claimed. Theatre producer Bill Kenwright, a close friend of Steele’s, told BBC Radio 2 that Elvis struck up a friendship with the singer over the phone and they secretly spent a day together in the mid-50s.

Bill said, “Tommy got a phone call one night. The person on the end said, ‘They tell me you’re good’ and Tommy replied, ‘Who’s this?’ The caller said, ‘It’s Elvis’. Tommy said, ‘Get outta here.’ They talked and they struck up a friendship. Elvis flew in for the day, and Tommy showed him around London. He showed him the Houses of Parliament and spent the day with him.” Previously it has been thought the closest Elvis, who died in 1977 aged 42, came to English soil was a brief stopover at Scotland’s Prestwick airport in 1960.

Uma disappointed about missing school prom

Uma Thurman is still disappointed about missing her high school prom. The Kill Bill actress was forced to skip the traditional American coming-of-age celebration because she was busy working. She said, “I never went to my prom. It was sad. I didn’t go because I had started working when I was 16.” Uma has also revealed she was “haunted” by her new movie The Life Before Her Eyes, in which she plays a character, who struggles with disturbing flashbacks after seeing her best friend killed in a high school shooting. She added to US TV show Extra, “It was a wonderful film to make. It is a very deep piece of material. It is such a real capturing of teen experiences. Hopefully, it will help parents to sit down and have these difficult conversations with their children. The conversations could help open people up and provoke. It could be incredibly helpful.”

Bhatts give Sonal a ‘heavenly’ debut

Sonal Chouhan, who comes from Delhi, started her career as a model, but is now gradually making her foray into films. She will be seen in Kunal Deshmukh’s Jannat. Sonal loves to be in front of the lens, whether that is a still camera or a moving one. She is an introvert by nature, which makes acting her way of expressing herself. In this film, she portrays the role of a modern and independent call centre employee. “I play a strong-headed girl in the film. I am modern and at the same time totally against criminal acts. I would never think twice before punishing a loved one if he has committed a crime.”

The actress had a wonderful time shooting with Emraan Hashmi and Kunal Deshmukh. Emraan, who is known to be a prankster, luckily did not play any pranks on her. Why did Sonal choose Jannat as her debut movie? “This was a topic which has never been dealt with. Thus I was keen to work in the film. India is a country which loves Bollywood and cricket. We will be providing both through this movie. Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt are known to give substantial roles to their leading ladies. So I was certain that I wanted this to be my debut movie,” she elaborated. We will be seeing a lot of more of Sonal now. She has signed a three-movie deal with the Bhatts and is also doing a Telugu film. With so much of work on hand Sonal has “no time for love”, as she laughingly puts it.

Darsheel’s favourite to work with Aamir

Darsheel Safary, who has become a household name after his performance in the Aamir Khan directed Taare Zameen Par is Kareena Kapoor’s new admirer. He has also expressed a desire to work with her. But the little boy also has something in common with his favourite star — Aamir Khan. While Darsheel is big fan of Kareena, she in turn is an ardent admirer of Aamir’s work. The actress is also pairing up with him in Rajkumar Hirani’s next film and naturally, Kareena is very excited on working with Aamir. Kareena has worked with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan earlier, but the opportunity to work with perfectionist Khan never arose till now. Now, working with him in Hirani’s film will make for exciting screen histrionics for the viewers. So, maybe Darsheel’s desire to work with Kareena too may materialise soon! After all, hers did!

All these songs have been testimony to Nirvana’s ‘Sound’. Nirvana frontman and Rhythm Guitarist Kurt Kobain, Bass Guitarist Krist Novoselic and Drummer David Grohl became instant teen figures and were raised to an unexpected plinth of fame and celebrity.
Their “Smells like teen spirit” has been touted as one of the greatest punk rock songs of all times. It became an instant hit mainly because of the fact that the Generation X of America were seemingly looking for an anthem when this song came about.
